The number of approved APAR providers looks set to fall below 1500 for the first time since the apprenticeship reforms. Just over 70 new providers were added to the register in 2024, but we still saw a net reduction of 49 organisations approved to deliver.
This second chart provides an analysis by date of first registration where most notably of the 2578 providers who were registered to deliver in 2018 only 924 are continuing to deliver apprenticeships today (64% attrition in 7 years).
For a supposedly ’employer led’ programme, it is even more noteworthy that of the 263 employer providers registered in 2018 only 59 remain registered to deliver (a 77% attrition rate).
